My WhatsApp account has been blocked. What now?

How to respond when Meta blocks your account, and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Written by Fabian Soldner

Meta can block an account for any number of reasons, and in many cases it can be reversed. Here’s why it happens and how to get back in as quickly as possible.

The usual causes:

  • Breaching the WhatsApp Business guidelines

  • Negative user reactions to your messages, spam reports or blocks for example

  • Unverified or falsified business information

  • suspiciously high message volume

What happens next?

  1. Normally you’ll get an email from Meta with a reason and the option to appeal. If the decision is wrong, appeal it.

  2. Work through Meta’s troubleshooting guides:

  3. The WhatsApp Manager in your Meta Business portfolio shows you the official status.

How to avoid getting blocked again:

  • Stick to the WhatsApp Business guidelines and never send prohibited content

  • Keep leads from reporting or blocking your messages

  • Complete your business details

  • Watch your message quality rating, because a falling score is an early warning

If your appeal succeeds, your account will be back shortly.
